Tôi đang viết nhật ký ở tuổi 20
Tháng 5 năm 1980
Sáng sớm mới mờ sương, Mẹ đã gọi tôi dậy để Bố đưa về trường cũ nhập học lại. Vươn vai, uể oải, miễn cưỡng tôi mệt mỏi như một chú dế trũi phiêu lưu ký một chặng đường dài. Ngày thường tôi đã tự đặt chuông chiếc đồng hồ báo thức tự dậy sớm ôn bài, ăn vội vã bát mì hạt (Bo bo) trộn đường hoặc hai cái bánh sắn là xong bữa sáng.
Ngày hôm sau bắt đầu sự nghiệp đi học bằng xe của bộ nên gà chưa kịp gáy lũ bạn học đã gọi nhau í ới ngoài đường, kể ra đi học kiểu hành quân tập thể này cũng vui, tha hồ tán chuyện trên trời, dưới đất của bọn trẻ con. Buổi sáng thì hừng hực khí thế, trưa về mặt đứa nào cũng như bánh đa nhúng nước chính là vì đói khát. Đã có đứa nhặt cả mẩu mía người ta vứt ngoài đường đầy đất lên ăn.
Phải nói tôi cũng là một cậu bé ham học, ngày xưa làm gì có học thêm như bây giờ
Sáng đi học trên lớp, chiều trông các em, rồi đi lấy bùn về nhào than nấu cám, gánh phân tưới rau nuôi lợn, nấu cơm ăn uống xong 9 giờ đêm mới được ngồi vào bàn học ấy vậy mà có hôm chiều tối không kịp tưới rau khoai lang nuôi lợn Bố tôi đã giằng quyển sách trong tay tôi dọa đốt. Các bạn có tin được không? Nhưng có lịch sử chứng minh thời đó giai cấp Công-Nông chính là người lao động được tôn vinh như một thần tượng. Bố không ghét bỏ gì tôi, người công nhân cầm búa, nông dân cầm liềm bàn tay phải chai sạn, lao động là vinh quang “ Bàn tay ta làm nên tất cả, có sức người sỏi đá cũng thành cơm” là suy nghĩ của thế hệ Bolshevik thời bấy giờ. Tôi còn nhớ như in hình ảnh lá cờ búa liềm và rất nhiều bức tranh cổ động hào hứng về tăng gia sản xuất trên các bức tường hoặc xây hẳn thành banner riêng khắp thành phố
Lại nói về thành phố 3B nơi tôi sống nếu không bụi thì cũng đẹp với ngã Ba Hạc- Nơi hợp lưu của ba dòng sông lớn Hồng- Lô- Đà, có hình thế “ Sơn chầu thuỷ tụ; sơn thuỷ hữu tình” tả có dòng sông Hồng đỏ nặng phù sa và sừng sững ngọn Ba Vì hùng vĩ; hữu có dòng sông Lô nước xanh trong lững lờ trôi xuôi và xa xa là ngọn Tam Đảo án ngữ.Thành phố được biết đến là thành phố công nghiệp đầu tiên ở miền Bắc Xã hội chủ nghĩa với các ngành dệt, giấy, hóa chất, sứ… từ cuối những năm 1958 các nhà máy đã ra đời như: Xưởng xẻ Bạch Hạc, xí nghiệp gạch Bồ Sao, xưởng xẻ Việt Trì, gạch Minh Khai, Kho xăng dầu, nhà máy Xay, nhà máy, khu dân cư trải dài theo dọc con đường Quốc lộ 2 được xây dựng từ thời Pháp thuộc.
Ký ức chỉ đưa tôi về 2 nhà máy lớn thời bấy giờ. Nhà máy Supe phốt phát và Hóa chất Lâm Thao tuần nào hai anh em tôi đạp xe đèo nhau về quê cũng phải đi qua còn nhà máy Giấy Bãi bằng lại liên quan đến chiếc tivi Philips màu Bố mua từ dốc chai lọ, nơi đồng nát ngồi bán lại những thứ họ mót được trong đống rác của khu làng chuyên gia của nhà máy phải nói đó là cái tự đắc của anh em tôi khi nhà chúng bạn có đứa chỉ có tivi đen trắng (Neptuyn, Samsung, Daewoo)
Viết đến đây dừng bút, ngồi ngắm lại những bức ảnh thời niên thiếu mà tôi sưu tầm được, ngẫm đi ngẫm lại cũng có phần thú vị. Ngày xưa cũng có “ đồng nát ” cũng mua đi, bán lại gọi là đi buôn. Thời đó nếu công chức có hành vi mua, bán dù chỉ là một cây thuốc lá không đầu lọc (Tam đảo bao bạc) là đã bị kỷ luật rất nặng, bị cấm, có chú bạn bè của Bố mẹ tôi đã phải đi tù, bị đuổi ra khỏi ngành. Nhưng không có những người gọi là buôn lậu đó liệu anh em tôi có tivi màu để xem không, liệu xã hội có phát triển như bây giờ không. Tôi còn quá trẻ để suy tưởng những điều cao siêu khó hiểu vẫn phải nói một điều rằng Đất nước tại thời điểm đó còn rất nhiều vấn đề đáng phải suy nghĩ./.
